Cold radiators?
Heating taking forever?

It might be sludge
in the system - not your boiler.

DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

Your heating could be telling you something.

Heating takes ages to warm up

Restricted circulation can make the whole system slow to respond.

Radiators need bleeding often

Repeated problems deserve investigating rather than simply bleeding again.

Not sure if you need a powerflush?

We'll take a look and give you honest advice.

Not every cold radiator means you need a powerflush. A circulation problem can have several causes, so we'll assess what's happening first and explain the sensible way forward.

Clean vs. Corroded Radiator Cutaway.png

What does a powerflush actually do?

A powerflushing machine circulates water and specialist cleaning chemicals through your heating system to loosen and remove accumulated sludge, rust and debris.

Once the system has been cleaned, it is refilled and treated with corrosion inhibitor to help protect it against future corrosion.

Think of it as a deep clean of the inside of your heating system.

Test

We run the heating and check circulation and radiator  performance.

What difference can it make?

Radiators heating more evenly
Fewer cold spots
Better circulation
Faster heating response
A quieter heating system
Less strain on heating components
Better protection for your boiler and system

Do I really need a powerflush?

Maybe. Maybe not.

A radiator that's not getting hot doesn't automatically mean the entire system needs powerflushing.

It could be sludge - but it could also be a valve problem, balancing issue, air in the system, pump problem or another fault.

We'll look at what your heating system is doing and recommend the appropriate solution.

PROTECTING YOUR SYSTEM AFTER A POWERFLUSH

Keeping it clean is just as important.

A powerflush removes built-up sludge and magnetite from your heating system. In some systems, we may recommend fitting a magnetic system filter afterwards.

The filter continually captures magnetic debris circulating in the system before it can reach the boiler, helping to reduce future build-up and protect important boiler components.

✓ Captures circulating magnetite
✓ Helps protect the boiler
✓ Reduces future sludge build-up
✓ Can be cleaned during routine servicing

Does every system need a magnetic filter?

New boiler installations

Modern boiler installations are designed to protect the new boiler from contamination within the heating system, and a magnetic system filter is normally fitted as part of a new boiler installation.

Existing heating systems

If your system doesn't already have a magnetic filter, we may recommend fitting one following a powerflush. The filter helps capture circulating magnetite and magnetic debris, reducing the amount that can return to the boiler and helping protect the system from future build-up.
